News - Wootten

ALMA is on the Canadian Decadal Survey Wish List--the cover of the report features Simon's Panorama of the site. ALMA is the number one ground-based priority. It is suggested that $1.5M go into D&D with $46M for construction and ongoing support of operations after that.

ALMA SW-SSR Group and Exploder - Glendenning

A summary of 17 Nov phone meeting is at Robert's Minutes Page.

More generally ALMA SSR is the place to look for ALMA SW-SSR stuff. Feel free to join the exploder discussions.

Configuration PDR - Min, Butler, Wootten, Radford, Kogan

Simon identified some goals:

1) Basic configuration parameters: number (5), sizes (150 m, 450 m, 1100 m, 3 km, 10 km).

2) Configuration styles: rings, donuts, sprials, etc.

3) Reconfiguration operations: continuous, batch, hybrid.

4) Quality metric for comparing different possibilities: sidelobe level, dynamic range, fidelity, etc.

5) Test images for comparing different possibilities. Should represent full range of science goals.

6) Topographic (or political) constraints on siting.

Also...We will discuss boring topics--where to bore, will an ALMA/US rep be present?
