An Announcement

Marc Rafal has asked that I find a new North American ALMA Project 
Manager to replace him so he can reduce his demanding travel schedule. 
I am pleased that Marc has agreed to continue to serve in his current 
role while we conduct a search for a replacement.  He has also agreed to 
assume the new position of Deputy North American ALMA Project Manager 
when his current position is filled.

Marc was appointed North American ALMA Project Manager four years ago 
and has made significant contributions transitioning the project from 
the design and development phase to the construction phase.  He will 
continue to make significant contributions to NRAO and ALMA in his new 
position.

Please join me in thanking Marc for his years of service in his current 
position and wishing him good luck in his new role.

General Happenings

Chajnantor              Internet connectivity to the Chilean backbone has
                         been accomplished, at   ALMA and Contractor's camps
                         are under construction.  OSF Conceptual design 
                         document due 2004-Feb-13.

ATF                     Radiometric testing of Vertex Antenna continues.
                        Holography on the AEC Antenna continues.

NTC                     Two antenna correlator for ATF has been powered up
                         and checked out; additional mode implementation work
                         continues.
                        Beam pattern measurements for Band 6 (211-275 GHz)
                         cartridge meet expectations.
