BIWEEKLY CALENDAR OF THE ALMA PROJECT at NRAO 22 October 2007 - 5 November 2007 ******************************** THIS FORTNIGHT************************* North American funding for ALMA is appropriated yearly in the Congress. AIP reports "The Senate has completed its consideration of the FY 2008 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Bill, clearing the way for a final version of this bill to be written. Although the bill passed by a strong bipartisan vote of 75-19, its future is troubled by the promise of a presidential veto. ... House and Senate appropriators will next meet to decide on a final version of this bill, known as the conference report. Differences in funding levels and policy direction will be settled in this conference." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Past issues of this Calendar may be viewed at http://www.cv.nrao.edu/~awootten/mmaimcal/ALMACalendars.html See also the JAO ALMA Calendar overview at: http://www.alma.cl/alma_project *************************************************************************** General Happenings Photos of activity may be found at: http://www.alma.nrao.edu/almanews/almagallery/index.html Sky: SCO (Santiago Central Office): AOS (Array Ops Site, 16570ft altitude): OSF (Ops Support Facility, 9600ft altitude): There are xxx people working at the ALMA site.
