NRC President (and ALMA friend) Arthur Carty appointed to new post of national science advisor to Canadian Prime Minister Martin, effective 1 April. In unrelated Canadian news, Lewis Knee has assumed the position of Canadian ALMA Project Manager formerly held by Lorne Avery, who has retired. He will provide day-to-day management of contractors and on-site inspection of works, in addition to other duties. Chajnantor Finishing and roofing work for ALMA camps to begin 2004-Feb-16 continuing for three months. Temporary power plant and permanent sewage treatment plant installed ATF The first ALMA images, of planets at both 3mm and 1mm, have been obtained. Holography measurements of the AEC antenna were completed 2004-Feb-02. The holography transmitter was repointed to the Mitsubishi antenna. Socorro Eight fiber optic receiver modules received from Jodrell Bank. First 2nd LO synthesizer module complete. NTC Prototype two antenna correlator was shipped to Socorro; installation and checkout this two week period. A change request seeking implementation of the tunable filter bank has been submitted.
