Atacama large submm telescope workshop Date: Fri, 10 Dec 2004 10:32:43 -0600 (CST) --- Workshop to be held at Boulder during/after URSI meeting. --- --- (announcement forwarded from Simon Radford) --- Colleagues, Cornell and Caltech have embarked jointly on a feasibility study of a large submillimeter telescope on a high site in the Atacama region of northern Chile. To identify and discuss promising approaches to the technological challenges, the study team is organizing a workshop about the proposed telescope in Boulder on Saturday January 8. This will be an all day, open workshop to discuss top level telescope requirements, technology approaches, and design concepts. The workshop will have a mixture of invited and contributed presentations with ample opportunity for informal discussion and comments. The project scientists will open the workshop with an outline of the overall science objectives and the consequent requirements. Brief presentations on particular design aspects are welcome. The workshop will be held at the Millennium Harvest House Boulder 1345 28th Street Boulder, CO 80302 Phone: 303-998-3823 We look forward to seeing you in Boulder. Please let me know if you will be able to attend and if you would like to make a presentation. Simon Radford Deputy Project Manager Large Submillimeter Atacama Telescope Caltech PS: Apologies for the overlap with the URSI commission J session on Saturday morning.
