For construction, Jorg and I have divided the 216 antenna stations into three groups, the Central Cluster, the Inner Array, and the Outer Array. These groups reflect the budget responsilibities of NRAO (60%) and ESO (40%). Outside the central cluster, the stations are far enough apart there should be little or no interference beween construction activities and antenna operations. Inside the central cluster, on the other hand, I expect antenna operations will not be practical until the entire cluster is finished. At the moment, the schedule is driven by the design and contracting processes. To minimize the cost, we will probably leave the order of station construction within the groups to the discrection of the contractor. If there are specific science or operations requirements for particular stations at particular times, please let us know.
