The IRAF system quietly passed its 10th anniversary this year. In February 1986 28 sites received the first-ever distributed IRAF system. Whoever thought back in 1986 that IRAF would grow to be the widely popular astronomical data reduction and analysis system that it has become with over 1000 sites and an estimated 4000 users around the world.
