Abstract:

Display and Archival Storage of Mosaic Images. Lick Observatory is currently building the DEIMOS spectrograph which will use a detector composed of 8 2k 4k CCDs. NOAO, CfA and other sites are also planning detectors of this sort. There are some rudimentary systems in use now, and some well-developed ideas for more permanent schemes. During informal discussions between various sites, it has become apparent that there is a need to produce instruments which follow some kind of community-wide precepts.
