NRAO and the LSST

July 6

Abstract:

The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) will revolutionize time-domain astronomy by surveying the southern sky from 0.3-1.1 microns every few nights over a ten-year period. The result will be a six-band, thousand-epoch survey, with stacked images reaching orders of magnitude fainter than any wide-field optical survey to date. The LSST survey presents a compelling opportunity for the radio/millimeter/submillimeter and optical/infrared communities to co-operate in producing fantastic science. I will describe the LSST survey, discuss why the radio community's involvement with the survey will be mutually beneficial, and explain how we (individually and collaboratively) can take part.
