Twenty Years of Toutatis

November 9

12:10PM, Room 230, NRAO, Edgemont Road

Abstract:

The near-Earth asteroid Toutatis has been observed extensively with the Arecibo and Goldstone radars since 1992, and we will be observing with the VLBA next year. I'll describe Toutatis' shape and internal structure and its unusual tumbling spin state and how it has changed with time, and make predictions for what we'll see in 2012.
