Molecular Parameters for HC11N

NRAO National Radio Astronomy Observatory

Laboratory measurements by M. J. Travers, M. C. McCarthy, Kalmus, P. C. A. Gottlieb and P. Thaddeus, 1996, Astrophysical Journal Vol 469 p. L65.

  • Approximate Structure:
  • B = 169.06295(3) MHz
  • D x 10^6 = 0.242 (14) MHz
  • Dipole Moment 5.47 Debye (est.)

  • Interstellar detection by M. B. Bell, M. J. Travers, M. C. McCarthy, C. Gottlieb, P. Thaddeus and P. A. Feldman In Astrophysical Journal (Letters), 1997 (in press).

Two lines, J=39-38 and J=38-37, observed toward the dark cloud TMC1 indicate the molecule is 6.8 times less abundant than HC9N. Typically, in the transitions near 13 GHz, an integrated line intensity of 3.3 mK km/s was observed in each of the lines with the NRAO 43m telescope.
