Atacama Large Millimeter Array Scientific Highlights

The ALMA can detect all the galaxies in the Hubble Deep Field (backdrop) in a single long observing session! When did the heavy elements form? By observing them directly, in atomic, molecular, or agglomerate (dust) form, we can approach an answer to this question. I maintain a list of all distant galaxies detected in CO emission, as well as dust continuum emission.

Cosmology!

NRAO The Atacama Large Millimeter Array is A Project of the
National Radio Astronomy Observatory
and the National Science Foundation
aong with other partners.

ALMA's man on the San Pedro de Atacama de Chile scene, Angel Otarola has a WWW page also.

NRO's LMSA will be similar to the ALMA, and discussions continue on how to include tese instruments in one decamegamillimeter array (you see..a megamillimeter is a kilometer and a decamegamillimeter is ten kilometers, the baseline of the combined, or Atacama, array).

Existing arrays also have WWW pages: The Owens Valley Radio Observatory Array
The BIMA Array
The IRAM Array
The Nobeyama Array
The Submillimeter Array
