Stephane asks:
We found an intriguing property of the pointing errors introduced by the anomalous refraction:
- The errors are isotropic when computed on a 1 sec timescale.
- But after averaging them on a longer timescale, the errors in the direction perpendicular to the wind direction are systematically HIGHER than those along the wind direction.
This is actually a property of the phase screen gradient.
Lost at the end of one of the two new texts, there is an important question:
"Is anomalous refraction anisotropic ?"
Answers welcome.
