The Virtual Observatory
I have contributed to the software libraries of the Virtual Observatory. I was a lecturer for the 2006 NVO Summer School in Aspen, CO. The VO aims to "provide improved access to the ever expanding astronomical data resources available on-line." The VO protocols and software aim to provide interoperability between databases and services for astronomical datasets. A VO book is available from PASP, to which I have contributed a number of articles on various applications.

Scientific Visualization
I enjoy writing software for astronomy applications. In addition to managing the software pipeline for the ALFALFA survey, I have written many applications used by astronomers working on the survey. These include visualization solutions for viewing 3D datacubes and GUIs for measuring spectra.
The software packages are able to act as a client to many astronomical web services and database systems (local and remote) that allow users to query and compare radio observations to existing catalogs and multiwavelength imaging.
Read here about two software packages, GRIDview and GALflux.
