The NRAO 12 m telescope is open to any astronomer or astronomy graduate student on a competitive basis through research proposals sent to the Director of the NRAO and, subsequently, reviewed by peers. First-time proposers are encouraged to read our general guidelines for observers writing 12m proposals. Inexperienced student observers must be accompanied by their advisor on their first observing run.
