Abstract:

Calibration and Imaging in AIPS++ is based upon a very general formulation of the measurement equation for both single dish and synthesis radio telescopes. A collection of related classes expresses the measurement equation and allow solutions for both calibration parameters and a model of the sky brightness. Quite general new algorithms for both calibration and imaging may be written using this approach. We describe our experience in both design and implementation of this set of classes. We will also show some applications to polarization self-calibration of synthesis observations of compact objects.
