Molecular Gas in the Magellanic Clouds

January 31

12:10PM, Room 230, NRAO, Edgemont Road

Abstract:

I will present our large, ongoing project to survey the molecular gas in the Magellanic System with the ATCA and Mopra telescopes. In particular, we have obtained the highest resolution map to date of the molecular ridge in the LMC: a molecular cloud complex that extends ~2kpc south from the active star-forming region 30 Doradus. I will present some results from our analysis of how the properties of the molecular gas in the ridge appear to be changing as a function of the interstellar radiation field. I will also discuss some of our recent results concerning the relationship between the atomic and molecular gas in the LMC.
