2.1 BackgroundAn NSF computer networking grant was used to purchase video conferencing systems for the AOC, Charlottesville, Green Bank and Tucson conference rooms, and a multi-conferencing unit (hub) and ISDN Gateway were installed in Charlottesville. These systems allow compressed digital video and audio signals to be exchanged between the four NRAO sites over the frame-relay Intranet, and video communication with non-NRAO sites over ISDN phone lines or the Internet. Our original goals were:
