Dear Dr. Turner, In my quality as the Spanish member of the European ALMA SAC (ESAC), I am aware that there are plans to organize an ALMA Science Symposium on Spring 2006. About one year ago, together with some Spanish colleagues, we suggested to the Spanish ALMA National Committee (the official body created by our Government to follow all aspects of the ALMA project in Spain) the possibility of hosting such a Symposium in our country. The Committee unanimously agreed to invite the ALMA project to celebrate the Symposium in Spain. We had a Committee meeting just yesterday and this invitation was confirmed again. So, on behalf of the Spanish partner in ALMA (CSIC/IGN), I am in charge to transfer this formal invitation to you, as ASAC chair. The Committee has also unanimously stated that, because of many different reasons, if it is held in Spain, the preferred location for the Symposium is Madrid or some nice place at its close neighborhood. Indeed, if this invitation is kindly accepted by the project, as it is our wish, some National funds will be devoted to the meeting organization. I am sending copies of this message to the ASAC vice-chair (Dr. Testi), to the ESAC chair (Dr. van Dishoeck), to the project scientists (Drs. Wilson and Wootten), and to the chairman of the Spanish ALMA National Committee (Dr. Cernicharo).
