The early results show that the sensitivity of the
IWVM is around 10
m pwv (1
)
in 1 second at
1 mm
pwv. This number is about a factor of 10 worse than theory
predicts. The main reason for this is our current infrared filter
which is far from optimal. Other problems encountered during this
first run with the IWVM include:
- we used a general purpose 12-bit data acquisition system
(that we have used in other applications for ease of development).
It is clear that more resolution is needed
- analysis of Moon scans has shown that the IWVM was slightly
out of focus. Because of the fast optics (f/.9) some of the
radiation was not reaching the detector
