Because it is a basic activity which tests the I/O subsystem and brings together a wide range of collateral considerations, we have created a working prototype of SDCalc's averaging of spectra, along with its GUI. The GUI includes a mechanism for data selection as well as controls for how that averaging is to be done. We are currently refining this prototype so that it does what we think it should do. Later this fall, we will use this prototype to generate some feedback from internal users on the GUI aspect. As the averager becomes more stable and reliable we will gradually add additional features from the above list. The next type of operations we will consider is fitting - specifically fitting a baseline to the data.
