The HI Environment of Ellipticals with Anomalous Light Profiles (6/6)

Jodies Project:

  1. Select a sample of early type galaxies both with and without Anomolous Light Profiles
  2. Observe them with the GBT to compare their local gaseous environment (merger remnants may be expected to leave gaseous tidal debris around the remnants for many Gyrs)
  3. Quantify their innermost light profiles using archival HST data (color gradients, effects of dust). Try to identify any non-coeval populations.
  4. Deep optical imaging to look for shells.
  5. Any differences between ALP and non-ALP samples?
