Z-machine science other than CO

Karl Menten (MPIfR Bonn)

While clearly the main scientific targets of "z-machines" will be redshifted lines of carbon monoxide, there also exist other interesting applications. Here I shall discuss the prospect of oberving lines from species other than CO at high redshift and in the local universe. In particular, I shall address the issue as to what minimum spectral resolution would be required and in which wavebands observations covering very wide frequency ranges would be worthwhile.
