Selection Criteria
Original MOJAVE
Lister et al. 2009 135
> −20° |b| > 2.5° Total 15 GHz VLBA flux density of at least 1.5 Jy (⩾2 Jy for sources below the celestial equator) at any epoch during the period 1994.0-2004.0.
Original MOJAVE 1.5 Jy Lister et al. 2013 180
> −30° none
Total 2 cm VLBA flux density exceeding 1.5 Jy at any epoch between 1994.0 and 2010.0.
MOJAVE 1.5 Jy Quarter-Century (1.5JyQC)
Lister et al. 2019 232 > −30° none Total 2 cm VLBA flux density exceeding 1.5 Jy at any epoch between 1994.0 and 2019.0.
Fermi-MOJAVE (1FM)
Lister et al. 2011 116
> −30° |b| > 10° Average integrated Fermi LAT >0.1 GeV energy flux ≥ 3 x 10−11 erg cm−2  s−1 between 2008 August 4 and 2009 July 5 (1FGL catalog period).
Hard-Spectrum

129
> −20° none
Mean Fermi 2LAC or 3LAC spectral index harder than 2.1, and total 15 GHz VLBA flux density > 0.1 Jy.
Low-Luminosity
Lister et al. 2013 63
> −30° none
8 GHz VLBA flux density > 0.35 Jy and redshift ≤ 0.3
Multi-frequency monitoring
25 > −6° |b| > 5° High polarization and transversely resolved, bright at 43 GHz.

Note: all samples exclude gravitationally lensed AGNs. Some AGNs are members of more than one of the above samples.

Over 150 other AGNs with J2000 declination north of −30° and total 15 GHz VLBA flux density of at least 0.1 Jy have been added to MOJAVE on the basis of membership in the:

Many of the AGNs listed above are no longer being monitored by our program. A full list of currently-monitored and past-monitored MOJAVE AGNs can be found in our on-line data archive page

In 2017-19 we carried out limited epoch 43 GHz VLBA observations of 4 AGNs from the above lists that were too compact to measure jet kinematics at 15 GHz: OE -280 (0347-211), B2 1324+224, PKS 1741-038, PKS 1958-179.
