2.4 Ancillary equipment

A PC was also purchased as part of each video conferencing system, to allow:

  • computer-based presentations (e.g., PowerPoint, web browser or other software) in each conferencing room, and
  • high-quality (continuous) sharing of such presentations between NRAO sites during meetings or seminars in parallel with sending the video signals, or
  • sharing of such presentations as video snapshots using screen capture software such as PolySnap.

Each NRAO site also has a high resolution LCD projector. This may be connected:

  • to the video conferencing PC to show computer presentations, or
  • directly to the Polycom ViewStation to show video signals in large format, or
  • directly to the Document Camera for large format local display of documents.

The latter options are especially relevant in large meetings where not all participants may have a good view of the video monitors.
