3 Remote Control Basics
Before making your first video conference call, please take
a few moments to become familiar with the ViewStation's remote control.
This control lets you:
- place video calls, as described in Section 4, and
- operate the main camera, adjust the TV volume, select video sources
from the conference table using menus displayed on the TV monitor.
Several buttons have different functions depending on which menu is displayed.
You must pick up the control to access all of its
functions.

: Place/disconnect video calls.

AUTO: Automatic Voice Tracking mode.

: Get control of NEAR (i.e. your) site's main camera,
or select an Alternate Video Source.
- FAR: Get control of FAR site's main camera (in point-to-point call).
- SLIDES: Show Powerpoint Slides preloaded at your site.

: Highlight menu item or pan main camera.

: SELECT highlighted menu item
- ZOOM: Main camera zoom in/out
- VOLUME: TV monitor volume control
- SNAPSHOT: Send a still "snapshot" video frame.

: Mute your site's microphone pods.
- NUMBER PAD: Go to camera preset/
enter number to call.

MENU: Escape to next higher level of menu.
- INFO: Polycom menu help.

The following functions are available (in order of the buttons on the remote):
: Place/disconnect video calls (details
in Section 4).
: Enable AUTO voice tracking for your site's main camera
(details in Section 5.3).
: Get control of the NEAR (i.e. your) site's main camera, or select an
alternate video source (camera, document camera, VCR, see Section 7)
at your site
- FAR : Get control of FAR site's main camera (only in a point-to-point call)
- SLIDES : Show Powerpoint slides preloaded into your site's ViewStation
(details in Section 7.6).
- ARROWS : Highlight menu item or pan camera, LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN
: SELECT a highlighted item on menu displayed on the TV
- ZOOM (+/- rocker) : Main camera zoom in/out
- VOL : TV monitor volume control
- SNAPSHOT : Send a still (snapshot) video frame (details in Section 7.4).
: MUTE your site's microphone pods
- NUMBER PAD : Go to preset camera settings (in camera control mode),
or enter a number (in dial-out mode)
- MENU : Escape to next higher level of menu on TV monitor
- INFO : Polycom menu on-screen help
Figures 9 to 11 show the main
buttons used for basic camera and audio control, for video input selection, and
for dialing video calls, respectively.
